Six Opening Types for Aluminum Alloy Windows

1. Inward-opening Casement Window

It opens inwards, so there’s no risk of falling outwards, and it’s safer compared with out-ward opening window. Equipped with a full-circle sealing gasket on the window frame, it delivers better sound insulation and thermal insulation performance.

It’s not perfect, as it occupies indoor space when opened, and passers-by may bump into the open sash. And it would interfere with the window screen. It’s not recommended unless the indoor space is ample enough.

2. Tilt-and-turn Window

Its greatest advantage is that it won’t occupy space when it’s open. The tilt function provides gentle and indirect ventilation, which is safe for kids and the elderly. And you don’t have to close it when it’s raining outside, so you can still enjoy fresh air on rainy days.

3. Outward-Opening Casement Windows

Its advantage is that it doesn’t eat up space when open, but it may fall and hurt other people or things. And it doesn’t provide good overall insulation and weatherproofing. It’s not so widely applied as a result. It’s most suitable for low-rise homes (floors 1 to 6), villas, self-built houses, or ground-floor units with a private yard.

4. Bottom-Hung Windows

It’s a fantastic space-saver, and you can keep the fresh air flowing even when it’s raining outside! It can be used in high-rise buildings as well. It’s perfect for smaller spaces like kitchens and bathrooms thanks to its compact design.

5. Sliding Windows

This is currently the most popular design. You can open it to any position you like. And it offers a massive ventilation area without eating up any indoor space.

A standard sliding window usually relies on weather strips for sealing. It means its insulation and soundproofing are generally weaker.

6. Drift Windows

This type of window offers a much better seal than standard sliding windows, and it still saves much indoor space compared to inward-opening ones.

But there’s one problem. It’s a relatively new product on the market, and the technology is not so mature yet. As a result, they tend to require a bit more maintenance.
